Uncle Charlie will be going on a business trip to China/HK tomorrow, so I wanted to see him one last time. As we were heading back to San Juan, Ifore called his dad on the phone and caught him just before he was about to go to bed (he sleeps weird hours). So we went over the house to chat for a while. When dinner time came around, we went to JT's Manukan Grille.

Many Filipino foods have been commercialized and franchised, so it's difficult to avoid the chains if you're a tourist. Only locals would know which mom-and-pop shops could be trusted. Ifore has been going to JT's Manukan Grille regularly and it's as authentic as it gets. It's a roadside food stand with some outdoor seating... a true Philippines dining experience. The food is even served on leaves, so you can go kamayan if you choose! JT's Manukan Grille is actually a small chain now, but it still retains the same experience as when it was unique.

This was my best meal in Philippines... tied with Jollibee of course! Besides the taste, the greatest part about this meal was the price... came out to $16 US for 3 people. That wasn't a tiny snack either. We had 3 BBQ sticks, bangus, beef ribs, soup and rice. If I lived here, I'd eat this all the time!
